Romantic Valentine’s Day Look – Modern Renaissance Palette

There’s something very romantic about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette. The beautiful soft pink hues really gave me inspiration for this Valentine’s Day look. If you want to recreate it yourself, here is a step by step tutorial! Just in case you need that #valentinesmakeupinspo.

First of all, I just did my normal foundation and eyebrow routine. To set the eyes and add a base, I used the shade Tempera, just to add some brightness to the eye and also to illuminate. This shade has a beautiful iridescence to it, and we are all about that ‘in love’ glow on Valentine’s. If you’re single this Valentine’s (like me) you can totally still do this! Why not look glam for yourself?

Next, using Buon Fresco, I buffed this into the crease. This is a great transition shade for this look, I love using dusky pink on the eyes! I actually find many of the shades I’m using quite similar to those in the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. If you own it, you can definitely recreate something similar to this! To deepen and add some dimension to the eyes (and also a little more sparkle), I used the shade Antique Bronze. I just used this on the outer and inner corners of my eye. (Don’t be afraid to put it in the inner corners!).

Then after deepening this all down, I used the shade Love Letter (aww) under my bottom lash line. I really like to add a pop of colour under the lash line because I have pretty hooded eyes. It really means that there is something that draws attention to the eye. I have to say, I haven’t tried many Anastasia Beverly Hills products. The only thing I had tried up until this point, was the Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown, which I use to fill in my brows. I’m very impressed with these eyeshadows, though. They blend like a dream and have great pigmentation. They may be one of the best formulas I have used!

Now, to complete the halo eye look I was aiming for, we use Vermeer. I just packed this on with a shader brush on the centre of my eye. It really just catches the light and looks really soft and pretty on the eye. It really is a gorgeous shimmer shade. I also used it for my brow bone highlight, and on my cupids bow (aww). We gotta be extra on Valentine’s.

Add some mascara and you’re good to go! If you really want to go full glam you can add some fluttery lashes. The mascara I used here was the Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara.I had a sample of it that I was lucky enough to get for free from their website. I may actually have to buy it because it glides on the lashes so well, and is very intensely black which I am in love with! Here is the finished look with mascara…

…Then with false lashes. I am using these falsies from Dodolashes, that they were kind enough to send me. These are the style D105. If you use my code ‘violetelm’ at the checkout you can save 5%! (They are only $5 to begin with!)

I then did the rest of my makeup. I used a little Hoola bronzer to warm up the face, MAC Melba blush and Wet N Wild Gold Bar highlighter to add some glow. On my lips, I used Velvet Teddy from MAC because it’s a classic, matte and comfortable to wear.

Soft Valentine's Look

This look was a lot of fun to create, I loved using this palette. I would definitely recommend purchasing it (although it seems to be out of stock quite often!).
