What’s On My Phone? My Favourite Apps! – iPhone 6S Plus

I don’t think I could live without my phone. Yes, I’m that person. Especially now that I blog, I find myself even more attached. I enjoy being able to share my content with thousands of people online through my social media profiles, and it’s a great way for me to outlet my creative energy. But, as much as I do the ‘networking’ stuff, it’s also great to sit for half an hour and just play Best Fiends (#notsponsored). In this post, I’d like to show you some of the apps I use on a daily basis, and why you should be using them, too.

iphone 6s plus

I have the iPhone 6S Plus (with sugar free vanilla, no foam and almond milk). Yes, it’s a mouthful. I got my first iPhone (iPhone 5) when I was 17/18 years old. (My 8 year old sister now has one, too…) I thought it was the best thing I had ever owned. To be honest, I still think that. This version of the iPhone (6S Plus), to me, is the best so far. I am refusing to update to the iPhone 7 Plus for as long as I can. No headphone jack? Seriously?  It’s madness.

The bigger screen on this phone was something I was not used to, though I feel that if you’re interested in photography, video, or even if you just watch Netflix on your phone, this is a great choice. If you’re worried abut smashing the screen, I really recommend Casetify. They drop test their cases to ensure the phone screen won’t smash from a 4ft drop straight on to concrete. It hasn’t failed me yet. (Watch as I jinx myself…) But enough on the phone. Let’s get in to the apps.

Instagram

My absolute favourite app is Instagram. If you are in any way interested in beauty, you need to make an account ASAP. I keep up-to-date with all the latest beauty news through Instagram, and there are so many people involved in the beauty community to follow. I love gathering inspiration from actual professional make-up artists, amazing bloggers, and also through the many motivational accounts. It’s also a great feeling to have your little space online and know that the people following you really enjoy your content. (A special thank you if you’re a follower!) I have to say, many of my favourite apps are social media apps. Which leads us to…

Twitter

I do have a love/hate relationship with Twitter. But mainly love. Sometimes I’ll use it every day, and sometimes I’ll not touch it for weeks. (Bad, I know) I find this the best app for me to keep up with the many bloggers I love reading. I can find their latest posts, videos, and interact with them. Having a little insight into someone’s day is a really nice thing to me. I also find this the best platform for me to keep up with all my favourite actors, singers, vloggers, brands, activists, and my friends and family. It’s a great all-round app, and social media platform. I especially like how you can add links, photo and video to your posts. (Instagram, can we please have links in posts? Please?)

Facebook

Ah, Facebook. The home of all things meme. All of the cat videos. All of the guys with a car as their profile picture trying to message you. Aside from that, it’s a great app for me to stay in touch with people who read my blog! (Hey, you!) I tend to host giveaways on my blog Facebook page. My latest blog posts are usually shared there first. I enjoy being able to share beauty related pictures to like-minded people who I know will also enjoy them, but most of all it’s great to have access to so many supportive groups of people. I am a member of a few groups of beauty bloggers, and it’s great that we can all support each other and give each other advice. Sometimes, I feel that Instagram and the like can become more competitive. Perhaps, that’s a topic for another post.

Pinterest

Everything on Pinterest is #goals. It’s incredibly difficult to create content for my Pinterest, because I feel completely out of my depth. However, this doesn’t stop this app from being one of my favourites. I love re-pinning so many beautiful makeup looks, Swedish design interiors, eclectic fashion straight from the catwalk and of course, the famous Pinterest hacks/DIYs. If you are/were into scrapbooks or collage, this is a great app for you.

YouTube

I have an extreme soft spot for YouTube. So much so, that it beat Netflix on to this list. We all have our favourite YouTube stars. I personally watch Grav3yardgirl, Tati (Glam Life Guru), JkissaMakeup and of course, Jeffree Star. If I’m not watching beauty in particular, I love The Gabbie ShowShane Dawson and the most subscribed personality on YouTube, PewDiePie. There are so many diverse channels that create videos on anything and everything, and I think that’s what’s so appealing about YouTube. I am working on creating some content for YouTube, so watch this space.

Best Fiends

Okay, I got sucked in. I admit it. But I’m hooked. Watching sponsored video after sponsored video finally made me give in and just get it. Basically, it’s Candy Crush but better. You match different symbols to kill the slugs who are the enemy. You get 12 lives, lots of chances for extra diamonds and other in game currency, unlike Candy Crush where you get a measly five lives and one spin of a fortune wheel before being pestered for money. It definitely is a stress reliever and if you like the puzzle concept of Candy Crush, you’ll really enjoy this!

Spotify

Spotify is my #1 app for when I travel. On a bus? Spotify. On a plane? Spotify. In the car? AUX/Bluetooth Spotify. Right now, my favourite album is Joanne from Lady Gaga. It took me a long time to finally take a listen to this album, but it’s one of Gaga’s best. I particularly like the songs, Dancin’ in Circles and Million Reasons. If you haven’t heard them yet, take a listen and let me know what you think! If you’re a student you can get Spotify Premium (with no ads!) for half the price. Check out how at UniDays.

Plague Inc.

So, we’re taking a slight tangent. Plague Inc. is one of my favourite app games, but it’s kinda dark. The aim of the game is to infect every single person in the world with a bacteria/virus of your creation. You gain DNA points to evolve your virus so that it exhibits a range of different symptoms and behaviours. When you’ve infected everyone in the world and they’re all… y’know dead… you win.  I know, I know… it’s strange, but very addictive. If I had been any good at science whatsoever I would have been an epidemiologist. I seem to be drawn to those kinds of things. I love the breakout theories behind The Walking Dead, and movies like Contagion. I think I missed my calling. Anyway, moving on…

Snapseed

I really enjoy using Snapseed to edit my pictures. Mostly, I use the editing software in the Instagram app (I know a lot of people may frown upon that, but really, it’s been good for me.) However, sometimes I’m feeling extra and think my pictures could do with some oomph. There are a lot of great features to choose from on Snapseed (brightness, contrast, white balance, and you can even add text!), and they really do give a nice finish to your photos. If you don’t use this app already, I’d definitely recommend it for those of you that take a lot of photos!

Starbucks

Last but not least, the Starbucks app. I know it’s an incredibly ‘basic’ thing to have this app, but it is actually really helpful and easy to use. I use Apple Pay on my phone to load the Starbucks card with money, pay at the till using the barcode that’s generated for the card and hey presto! Done. Plus, you get cool lil’ star rewards, and when you hit 15 you get any drink you want for free! (Who’s basic now huh?)

If you made it to the end of this post, well done! I know it was a long one, but there are so many great apps for my phone that I love! Let me know down below what apps you love (games, photography, productivity, anything!), if they’re not listed, because you know I’m going to want to try them out!
