Summer Vibes: MAC Vibe Tribe Collection

Summer is officially here! I managed to get my hands on some of the products from the MAC Vibe Tribe collection and let me just say, if you want a glow for summer, you’ve come to the right place. I had been lusting over these products on Instagram (you can follow me @violetelm on there) and I’m such a sucker for packaging, so I had so get something… Okay, three things.

This beautiful eye shadow palette in ‘Call of the Canyon’ has four very metallic and glowy shades, which you could create a few different looks with. I had never tried MAC eye shadows before, but these blend beautifully. They may not feel as buttery as the Urban Decay shadows, but the quality and pigment are just as good if not even better. I love golden and orange coral shades for summer and so this is perfect, they all have a slightly gold iridescence which looks really nice on the eyes.

As the palette only has four shades and is quite small in size (it fits comfortably in your hand), it would be great for going on holiday, for festivals or for taking with you to go from a work day to party night look.

The absolute star of the collection has to be this Gleamtones Powder in ‘Dunes at Dusk’. The compact also has four different shades, to highlight, contour and add a flush to the cheeks. The shades are very like highlighters with in-built glow. At first I thought the contour shade had a very purple hue and I was intrigued as to how it would look on the skin.

I needn’t have worried. The bronze makes an excellent shadow on the face to create cheekbones that would cut glass. The blush shades weren’t very pigmented, however they do have a beautiful highlighting quality that is instantly visible. The champagne highlight really catches the light and so I also used it to highlight my brow bones and down the bridge of my nose, as well as my cupids bow, to really lift out the high points of the face.

The lipstick in the shade ‘Pure Vanity’ was probably my least favourite in the collection. It’s a lustre formula so it feels very balmy on the lips which I like, however the colour is very sheer and it clings to the dry parts of the lips. I wore a lip balm to prime my lips while I was applying the rest of my makeup and my lips felt really hydrated when I applied it, but it still clung to them (not awfully, but if you apply without balm first, its horrible). I hate to say it but I regret buying it.

It does look very pretty, though. Such a shame.

Here is the finished look using these products.

Glowing for summer! If you like how these products look, you can get them online at MAC or in any MAC store or concession. If you like this post give it a like, or comment below with some other products you would like me to try! I’d love to review some drugstore products next, so if you’ve seen something on your high street shop, please let me know!
