Watermelon Soda – Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick

Hi everyone, welcome back to another blog post! Today’s post is on the Limited Edition Summer release from Jeffree Star Cosmetics. I fell in love with these shades when I first saw them released on their Instagram page and I had been counting down the days to order, as I knew these liquid to matte lipsticks had a reputation for selling out quickly.

This was the first time I had ordered from this company but the ordering process was really smooth and they contacted me during every step of the order to delivery process. They let me know in advance that dispatch would take 3-4 days due to the high demand for this range, and once it had been shipped, (international shipping was $10.95) it came in less than a week! I was very impressed. The packaging certainly stood out, as it came in a bright pink box (I also didn’t have to pay any customs charge on this as it was below the £15 worth allowance, however, if you ordered more than one at a time or anything more expensive you would have to pay customs charges). Inside the lipstick was wrapped in yellow and pink wrapping paper with pink bubble wrap, and also included a promotional card with swatches of the other shades from the range on one side and a photo on the other.

The lipstick itself is really nice (it smells like watermelon jolly ranchers!). It’s a fantastic colour with great pigmentation and the formula is so lightweight, it feels like you’re wearing nothing. It dries completely matte and really does not transfer at all. I even washed my face with a cleansing soap and it still didn’t budge. It truly does last all day, and it’s quite satisfying to drink from a coffee cup and not have product transfer onto it. (Yes, that annoys me… Is that weird?)

I took a picture of the shape of this applicator because it was quite unique to me and makes it easier to follow the curves of your lips. Though the main thing I don’t like about this product is that it is really difficult to get even (for me anyway), and I do think it’s going to take me a lot of practice to get it right. This dries down matte, but that also causes it to crack quite a bit on the lips, which I’m not fond of, but I do think that it is a more universal problem with liquid lipsticks rather than particularly with this brand.

Here is a look I did with the lipstick 🙂

Overall, I would say this is a great product and even though I did spend £22 in total with shipping, I do think that they are worth this kind of money for the quality of the product and the range of colours available (Jefree Star is known for making unusual colours and so if you want or need something a little out there I would definitely check these out) and you can find all of the Summer range as well as other shades here.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if you did, please leave a like and let me know below what your favourite Jeffree Star Cosmetics liquid lipstick shade is!
