Top 5: Your Lips But… Better
Top 5: Your Lips But… Better
Hi everyone! I’m being a little lipstick crazy these days, so I have yet another post on lipsticks. (I apologize but I can’t help myself!) I wanted to introduce the Top 5 series I’ll be doing from time to time, on various different products. Today, I want to show you my Top 5 ‘your lips but better’ lipsticks. I have chosen a range from different brands and prices so hopefully there will be something for everyone!
5. Bourjois, Rouge Edition Velvet – 10 Don’t Pink of It! £8.99
Bourjois have released many different colours of these Rouge Edition Velvets but this is my favourite. It’s a beautiful dusky rose shade that would suit a lot of different skin tones, however, I’m not a big fan of the forumla of this product. The smell is quite overpowering (think moulding flowers + chemicals…) and although it is a matte formula, it doesn’t dry down completely. If you can get past the smell, it’s a great product and a beautiful colour.
4. MAC – Velvet Teddy (Matte) £15.50
Velvet Teddy is a cult favourite and has boosted in popularity enormously since Kylie Jenner was seen wearing the shade. It’s a matte forumla from MAC, smells like vanilla cupcakes and is a lovely deep-tone beige. Again, would suit almost anyone and is definitely a go-to lipstick for me, particularly in the winter. This is the first of two MAC shades on this list.
3. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate – 08 £5.49
This shade is pretty similar to Velvet Teddy, which I love because it’s less then half the price. The formula is also great, it is actually long lasting and smells floral (but in a good way). It feels very moisurising on the lips and I feel like it’s more opaque than some of the others and doesn’t settle into the lines of my lips just as much. I love it!
2. L’Oreal Color Riche – J Lo’s Nude £6.99
My faaaaavourite drugstore nude! I love this L’Oreal shade. It’s the one out of all 5 shades I’ve used the most. On days where I don’t know which lipstick to wear (mainly because it’s 7am and I can’t be bothered to think), I’ll grab this one and go. It’s more of a lip balm texture than the others, and it is relatively sheer but it adds a lovely shine and just a hint of colour that evens out your lips and just makes them look… better! Plus, who doesn’t want to add a lil J Lo to their makeup routine?!
1. MAC – Faux (Satin) £15.50
This is my favourite lipstick I own. Not kidding, not overrating (lipstick is serious business). It’s a lovely muted mauve pink that is just the perfect amount of moisturising without being sheer and it doesn’t settle at all into the cracks of my lips. Looks good with any makeup look… I could go on and on. Yes, a lot of these lipsticks look similar, but really it’s about forumla and price. This is a winner.
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you did give it a like and make sure to comment below what your favourite ‘your lips but better’ shade is! Also, if you have any suggestions for products that you would like to see reviewed, please leave them below and I will check them out! <3
