The Best Winter Palettes – Blogmas Day Thirteen

Welcome back! We are at Blogmas Lucky Number Thirteen today, and I’m here to tell you about the best winter palettes! I don’t know about you, but there are certain palettes I go to at certain times of the year. For me, I have these three palettes that I rotate through for pretty much the whole winter… Here’s a little about the three I chose:

The Naked Palette – Urban Decay

This is my automatic go-to for winter. It’s a diverse palette that you can use day to night, but also for lighter and darker looks. This was actually the first ever high end palette I bought. It had so many good reviews and I had seen it everywhere from Facebook to airplane magazines.

I’m so glad I bought it, as I use it a lot during the winter. I usually go for more neutral looks for the eyes at this time of year, because I usually go a little crazy with bright red lips or deep plum/black lips, so neutral is a great pairing. I think this is a great palette for beginners and skilled makeup artists alike!

Androgyny – Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Now, I know I just mentioned I go for many neutral looks during the winter, which is true. However… this palette is just too beautiful to pass up during the winter months. If I’m using this palette I will do the opposite to what I do when using the Naked palette. I’ll go for neutral lips and use these gorgeous shades for a more warm toned eye look. I love the shades ‘Androgyny’ and ‘Fetish’ in this palette, but the stand out for me is ‘Safe Word’ (I don’t know if you can see but I’ve used it the most!)

It’s a great transition shade to then blend other shades through, but I can also use it for light contouring if I don’t want to go very heavy duty on my face! (Frosting is also a beautiful highlighter!) So it’s pretty multi-use for me, as well as having a more unusual shade range like ‘Charm’ and ‘Poison’.

Modern Renaissance – Anastasia Beverly Hills

I can already see you giving me the side eye. I know. This palette is usually ‘one for the summer’ but for me, once again, it has such a beautiful range of brown/neutral shades that are right up my alley, while also giving me the option to add in oranges and pinks if I so choose!

It gives you the kind of mixture of both palettes above, in that you can use it very neutrally, or you can go full out cut crease warm toned glam, if the occasion calls for it. I have to admit, I was going to include Subculture here as opposed to Modern Renaissance, but the formula on that palette is just too inconsistent for me to recommend. It also has some gorgeous wintery shades, and if you’re interested definitely look into it.

I hope you enjoyed my picks for the Best Winter Palettes, and I hope you’ll leave me a comment down below telling me which palettes you love!
