Last Minute Shopping Tips – Blogmas Day Eighteen

Last Minute Shopping Tips – Blogmas Day Eighteen

Well, it’s coming up to that time when the gift shopping window is getting smaller and smaller, so I have just a couple of tips for shopping at the last minute! (I’ve done it quite a few times myself.) Here we go – sit back relax (kinda?) and start thinking about your gifts because Tip No. 1 is…

Know What You Need

Okay, I know it seems obvious. But actually sitting down and writing a list of the things you need keeps your brain from scrambling and you actually feel like you’ve accomplished something! It also stops you from panicking, which is a BIG time waster. (Believe me, as someone who has anxiety and panics about everything, it won’t give you more time or stop the problem… so just do it!)

Click & Collect

This is like my number one go to for last minute gift buying. If you’re thinking of buying something, do a little Google search and see if you can find a retailer that has your item, but also can reserve it for you to pick up. This can save so much time, and often the items are available for collection immediately, if not in a few hours. This is also useful if the product is out of stock for delivery, or it’s too late to order for delivery before Christmas! Even some eBay sellers have a click and collect option for collection at your local Argos!

Try Local Businesses

If you’re looking for something in particular, say a toy for your little one or a brother or sister, check the big retailers BUT, if you have a local toy shop give them a ring and see if they have what you’re looking for in stock. Nine times out of ten they will have, because people will go to big retailers first. I have done this a couple of time for the ‘hot’ Christmas toys of the season for my sister, and I always got them no problem at a local retailer. If it’s a little more expensive, it might be worth it to get what you want, and also support your local community’s economy!

If You Can’t Get Exactly What You Want, Have A Plan B

Always have a couple of gifts in mind, just in case you can’t get what you want. Don’t buy something kind of similar because it’s basically the same. If it’s not the exact thing you want, it’s better just to have another idea. This will stop you from feeling disappointed when it’s a week after Christmas and the thing you desperately needed is now in stock but you bought something kinda, sorta the same instead. (I’ve done this many times…)

Remember, It’s The Thought That Counts

This is the most important thing to remember. If all else fails and you decide to get a gift card, that is no big deal. Gift cards and money are sometimes way better than a gift you weren’t sure about. But, ultimately, I’m sure whoever you are buying a gift for just wants to be with you on Christmas Day way more than any gift. So, just remember that!

I know this was a short post, but I have gone down like a sack of potatoes to a cold and cough. I had to keep going though, so I hope you found something useful here that might give you some help with last minute shopping.
