Top 5 Festive Red Lipsticks – Blogmas Day Seventeen

Red lipsticks are definitely a staple for me in the festive season. I tend to buy every lipstick in red if I like the formula, so I’ve narrowed down to what I feel are the best five. They are all different in their own ways, and I tried to make it a wide selection in terms of finish too. I hope you find one you like! Let’s start off with…

Tarte x Grav3yardgirl – Swamp Family – £17

I think this collection has officially sold out for good, but I had to include this lipstick. It is a Creamy Matte Lip Paint, which certainly lives up to it’s name. I feels so soft to apply, almost whipped and boasts full pigment. It has a great minty scent. The one drawback for me is that although it is very matte, it doesn’t dry down completely, which I like so there is less transfer and more wear out of the product. However, it’s a beautiful shade and a great formula.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Poinsettia – £16

I already did a post on this holiday collection for Blogmas, but this shade of red is so unique that I had to include it. I love the metallic sheen to it, it makes it feel so festive when you wear it (not to mention the shade name) if you read the previous post, you know I love the Jeffree Star Cosmetics formula as it does fully dry down and has minimal transfer throughout the day, regardless of eating and drinking. Fave!

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick 107 – £5.49

I always love the Rimmel Kate products! They are such high quality for a great price, and due to them being a drugstore brand, these are super accessible on your local high street! This shade is more berry toned than the others, but to me it still reads very much as red. It has a great wear time and looks fabulous with a simple eyeliner wing!

Maybelline Color Drama – Red-dy or Not – £4.99

The first non matte one! Finally, you say. I love matte lipsticks, but if I’m going out to PAR-TAY I love a glossy lip. I think it makes the look richer and more formal than matte lips. Does anyone else feel this way? Once again the undertone is very blue (as I’m sure you can see in the swatch) so it’s going to make your teeth look whiter and your smile brighter! Yay! These have a strong perfume-type scent so if you are put off by fragrance, this one may not be for you… but overall it’s one of my favourites for great colour payoff with a nice gloss to it.

Max Factor – Ruby Tuesday – £7.99

This lipstick is the brightest red of them all! So this one is great for all seasons too, and can be worn summer right through to the festive season. To be honest, this has my least favourite formula out of the five, mainly because it’s just a plain old lipstick and the wear time is really quite bad. It is a gorgeous shade, but it does require a lot of touching up during the day. If you don’t like carrying lipsticks with you or don’t have time to do touch ups, this one probably isn’t for you.
